Sorry for the clickbait. It isn't a barn find, it's just a shonky garage. But it is mighty rare and was a highly enjoyable experience to unearth this car from its tomb after 4 decades. My friend Tim at Roadhouse Motor Co https://roadhousemotor.co.uk/ shares my guilty pleasure appreciation for Austin Allegros and was looking all over the UK for the rarest model of Britain's most hated car. It turns out there was one less than 100 metres from his house, buried in an overgrown garage. Time for some urban ex and some towing.

The Allegro club international http://www.allegroclubint.org.uk/ say there could be as many as 7 Allegro 1750 SS models left worldwide, with 3 actually functioning on the road. We found a totally untouched one owner 1750 SS and Tim hopes to get it back on the road.

If you don't live in the UK then consider this as a British version of what the American AMC Pacer. A classic car with irony that now houses some '70s nostalgia. The Austin Allegro launched May 1973 as replacement for the Austin 1100 and 1300 - the NEW DRIVING FORCE FROM AUSTIN. It lasted until 1982 and the early series 1 cars are considered the rarest and most desirable.
