You probably haven't noticed a housing shortage in the Netherlands. Yet, we do not increase the height. That would be the ideal solution, right?

The Netherlands is the most populous country in the EU (leaving aside the island of Malta). However, anyone who flies over the Netherlands does not see packed metropolises with gigantic residential towers, such as in Hong Kong or New York. On the contrary, except for Rotterdam, we hardly have any skyscrapers in our country. And yet, we have quite a housing problem to solve. How is that possible? And will that change in the future? We spoke to a senior lecturer in area development, Tom Daamen, from TU Delft. We travel with him to Manhattan on the Maas to answer this question.
