Authorities responded to a one-car crash which left the driver of the destroyed vehicle unable to escape the wreckage. Upon arrival, the Irvine Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority verified that the male driver of an Acura SUV had crashed head-on into a traffic light pole, without any overt signs of braking.

OCFA Firefighter-paramedics extracted the driver, swiftly transporting him to a nearby trauma facility.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation by Irvine Police Department detectives.
