Race For Sixth Generation Fighter Jets! Who Will develop First?

Number 7: Global Combat Air Programme
The Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) is a multinational initiative led by the United Kingdom, Japan, and Italy to jointly develop a sixth-generation stealth fighter. Under the current timeline, the programme expects to begin the formal development phase from 2025, with a demonstrator to fly in 2027, and production aircraft to begin entering service from 2035.


Number 6: Future Combat Air System

The Future Combat Air System is a European joint initiative led by France,Germany and Spain to develop 6th generation stealth fighter jets.A test flight of a demonstrator is expected around 2027 and entry into service around 2040.


Number 5: Mikoyan PAK DP / Mig 41 -Russia

The Mig 41 is a 6th generation interceptor/heavy fighter aircraft to replace the Mig 31 in Russian aerospace force. It is expected to perform its first flight test by 2025-2026 and entered service by early 2030s.

Number 4:J-28 -China
The J-28 is a ongoing project for developing a 6th generation multirole fighter jets by China.Although much of of its design and specifications are not known.It is speculated that the Chinese next generation multirole fighter jet is expected to enter service by 2035.


Number 3: HAL AMCA MARK 2-INDIA
The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is a proposed Indian fifth-generation stealth, multirole combat aircraft for the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy under development which will also include sixth-generation technologies.The AMCA programme was launched in 2010.
The AMCA Mark 1 will come equipped with 5.5 generation technologies and Mark 2 will have the 6th generation technology upgrades.
The AMCA mark 1 is expected to enter service by 2035 and mark 2 with sixth generation technology will further develop from it.

Number 2: F/A-XX program- USA

F/A-XX is a development and acquisition program for a future sixth-generation air superiority fighter to replace the United States Navy's F-18 super hornet multirole fighter. Initiation for this program starts in 2012. The F/A-XX programme expected to enter service by mid 2030s.


Number 1: Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) - USA
The Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) is a United States Air Force (USAF) sixth-generation air superiority initiative with a goal of fielding a "family of systems" that is to succeed the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor.The NGAD programme initiated in the year 2014 and is expected to enter service in the 2030s.
