The study “It’s complicated. People and their Democracy in Germany, France, Britain, Poland, and the United States” surveyed more than 10,000 people across five different countries over a period of six months in order to gain a better understanding of what constitutes democracy and what democracy means to people. What expectations do people have of democracy? What do they want from it? The study identifies new approaches for politics and civil society on how to reestablish and strengthen mutual trust between political actors, media organizations as well as other stakeholders and citizens.
