China's reputation for heavily subsidizing its crucial industries, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, has raised significant concerns in Europe and the United States. The West cites that this results to unfair competition and trade distortion. Given the perceived advantages enjoyed by Chinese companies as a result of these subsidies, there is a growing call to classify them as "unfair trade subsidies." Is such a call valid?
