We had the pleasure to have a few days ago the latest Ressence timepiece here in our Club space and what an interesting experience it is to read the time as you would read it on a piece of paper, more of a 2D impression compared to what we are more accustomed to.

The name of this new watch is the Type 3 BBB and compared to previous models of the Type 3 collection, its design conveys a sense of strict and efficient minimalism.

Yes, because it looks very modern, almost like a Kindle with a battery, but it has here a spring instead inside, more precisely a mechanical self-winding movement. It looks very “digital” but when you put that beautiful watch shaped as a pebble near your ear you will hear the beautiful tic-tac beating inside.

This watch is mainly made in three parts. The upper, dial side entirely immersed in oil, the lower part or wrist side with the mechanical movement immersed in “air”, and in between a titanium case/membrane making the connection on both parts. The connection is made with very directional magnets, to avoid sensitive areas such as the hairspring or the escapement more in general.

Seven bellows with tiny holes in the titanium case also make the connection in order to keep some room for the oil to expand when it gets warmer or contracts when colder. On its dial it is possible to read hour, minute, day (with AM/PM fonction), date and temperature of the oil indications.
Please have a look at our video and you will also see how to wind it, set the time and all functions on this avant-gardiste watch having no crown.

We hope you enjoy the video and Viva Watchmaking!
