We are photographers and film makes by trade but love a little bit of DIY and design. This is a short film we created over the 12 or so months we spent renovating and building an extension.

We had professionals involved in all the major parts of the build however did a lot of work ourselves.
The intention was to create a large, open, naturally lit space which house the kitchen and family area.

The space is the heart of our home now, and as a family we spend the majority of our day here. From breakfast, we have a desk and machine set up for those long days working from home, dinner in the evening and then adjust the light for Netflix in the evening.

Lighting is incredibly important to us, I guess this comes with our actual job! We wanted the dining table to have pin lights really highlighting the souls of the kitchen.
Whilst the feature wall has architectural led lighting cascading a soft glow downwards.

All the main ceiling lights are on dimmers, whilst the blue neon sets the tone and adds an electric glow throughout the day.

The windows are designed to give us a view of the garden. Which we landscaped and put further lighting in, extending the view and Colour’s in the evening.

We are delighted with how it’s all turned out and it’s been a blast working in it! Thankfully 2020 gave us a lot of excess time to learn new skills and enjoy the space as it developed.
