A slightly different video for you this week, no commentary from me like usual, just a very relaxed walkthrough of the build...

For those of you who don’t know me I’m a full time designer, a part-time YouTuber (focussing on tech ,productivity and lifestyle) and I also run a small online business on the side.

These past couple of years have been odd to say the least. For a bit of time now I’ve been thinking about building a studio space in my back garden. I knew I wanted a space where I could think creatively, read and reflect - essentially a miniature fortress of solitude for creativity! In this video, I finally build one with some help from some local builders.

Quite intentionally I didn’t want this space to be a working space, I wanted it to be a thinking space - somewhere to escape to and somewhere to go and solve creative problems away from my desk in a different environment, so I could get my creative juices flowing.

With a space like this its tempting to make it really big, but with a larger space we as humans have a tendency to fill spaces with clutter and I didn’t want that, so in a way I wanted the bare minimum in here.

I love this new space - it’s such a simple concept but it has genuinely helped me to create more balance in my life as well as injecting more creativity and time for reflection into my usual routines , productivity and daily life.

In terms of the build itself it only actually took a few days to build once all the materials had been ordered. I worked with a builder to make sure everything within the design was standard parts so there’s no special custom components or sizes to the space to help keep the cost down.
