24th March 1987: Michael Eisner of The Walt Disney Company and president Jacques Chirac sign the "Agreement on the Creation and the Operation of Euro Disneyland en France", a detailed contract between the Disney corporation and the French Government which sets out the framework for the creation of Euro Disneyland, later renamed Euro Disney.

This ends more than year of complex negotiations between the two parties. France will provide the infrastructure such as major highways and a fast metro service which will link to the site to the French capital. It also agrees to a substantial reduction in sales tax.
