A unique series of 8 DVDs charting the political and personal life of one of Britain's greatest prime ministers Only with the TelegraphThe woman who was to become the darling of the Right-wing press in the Eighties was, a few years, earlier, dubbed by the Sun ''the most unpopular woman in Britain".As education secretary she stopped free milk for schoolchildren and suffered a torrent of abuse. In The Making of Margaret, the episode is chronicled as part of the period when she rose from 33-year-old novice MP to become Tory leader and then prime minister.Rarely seen footage of her at home in 1953 with her young twins around the time she made her maiden Commons speech is fascinating. She is asked whether, after rave reviews of her maiden speech in the Chamber, she has her eyes set on a frontbench position.Modestly, she replies that she will not be able to consider a senior role until her children are a little older. It is claimed that some of her loathing for Ted Heath came from the ''milk snatcher" row, in which she implemented a policy that had long been planned. She felt that she had been unfairly exposed by her leader. There is footage of the energetic Mrs Thatcher jumping in and out of the passenger seat of an MGB sports car during the race to win the Tory leadership in 1975.It was in marked contrast to the flatfooted Mr Heath, who could not believe he had been outwitted by Mrs Thatcher, who only ran, we are told here, so that ''people like us are represented in the race".The aftermath of the murder of Airey Neave at the Commons by an IRA car bomb is also gripping. ITN film shows her immediate reaction and then a few hours later she gives a moving tribute to her mentor which ends with her fighting back tears. Her chief of staff Michael Dobbs recalls the famous St Francis of Assisi quote she recited in the steps of Downing Street in May 1979. He reveals that it was all the idea of Ronnie Millar, her speechwriter and guru, and she did not believe a word of it
