A rare butterfly has been successfully reintroduced to Britain by the National Trust after recreating its ideal meadow habitat using grazing cows.

The large blue butterfly went extinct in the UK in 1979. In the following decades, there have been various attempts at bringing the insect back.

Now, the most successful reintroduction to date has taken place at Rodborough Common in Gloucestershire, after 750 butterflies successfully emerged from their chrysalises and took to the sky.
