Should girls lift weights?
I have a background in martial arts and I’ve spent most of my childhood doing free body exercises. I used to be one of those guys crazily against using “equipment” for fitness. There was a point in my life where EVEN I had notions like “weights make you bulky”, “weights are dangerous”
In the summer of 2012, I was overweight, unhealthy and I was just recovering from my 3rd surgery in 3 years. I’d popped both my rotator cuffs in my shoulders thanks to a long term Judo injury. I’d lost a chunk of the range of movement in my arms and even my physiotherapists had given up on me. That’s when I went “Why not give weight training a try?”
And it changed my life. Fixing my arms was just the beginning.
Its been a while since then. But this journey has been goddamn magical. I’m all about general fitness. I feel even a simple morning walk counts as some kind of fitness. Its always better than doing nothing. But weight training, in my honest opinion, is the fastest, most efficient and most effective path to overall health.

Keep in mind, before I took up weight training, I was eaily the unhealthiest guy you’d ever meet. This activity has given me benefits that I could only dream of. Forget the external benefits like an aesthetic body and muscle strength. The biggest thing I’ve gotten from lifting weights is peak physical health. And there’s a deep science behind that. THAT is what today’s video is about.
Ladies, I know SO MANY OF YOU, who’re looking for ways to get fit. Some of you don’t even consider doing weight training because of the myths you’ve grown up hearing. “Makes you bulky”, “Causes injuries” , “Only good for men”.
YOU are AS HUMAN as me. In fact, I guarantee YOU are healthier than I was when I started out. If this could take me from where I was to where I am, it can do even bigger things for you! You’ve been given ONE body for your entire life. You OWE it to your body to at least be aware of what fitness opportunities are potentially out there for you. I am not trying to convince anyone about anything here, but I am trying to educate women on what they might be missing out on.
