Environmental education and financial skills: A discussion with Simon Thompson (Chartered Banker Institute), Will Goodhart (CFA Society of the UK), Simon Connell (Standard Chartered) and Sarah Ivory (University of Edinburgh). (With support from the Chartered Banker Institute)

Why you should watch: The demand for a better appreciation and understanding of environmental and 'green' issues in the financial services sector, writ large, is growing - and there is no sign yet that the supply outpaces that demand, either of entry-level graduates with an ESG background or for mid-career top-ups. The Chartered Banker Institute (the oldest professional banking institution in the world, founded in 1875) is a leading player in this field - as is the CFA Institute. But the professional bodies are not the only ones. Among the leading universities, the University of Edinburgh's business school has carved out a niche - both for undergraduates and for MSc students. All of them are having to adapt to the demands of a financial services sector that is itself having to adapt to a rapid pace of regulatory change and to the increasing role that climate-related issues are playing from retail banking to asset management.
