On September 15, 2009, the House Committee on Science and Technology held a hearing titled, "Options and Issues for NASA‘s Human Space Flight Program: Report of Review of U.S. Human Space Flight Plans Committee."

The report from what was commonly known as the Augustine Committee offered options that eventually led to the cancellation of NASA's Constellation program, funding of the commercial crew program, and extending the International Space Station to 2020.
