The Gaza Solidarity Encampment at Columbia University has reached its seventh day. Students continue to protest on the lawns and have hosted several events, including a Palestinian map art build, a poetry reading, and speeches from guest speakers. Guest speakers included lawyer and author Derecka Purnell, Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza, and author Marc Lamont Hill. Azaiza expressed his gratitude to the student protesters for their actions in support of Gaza.

“Gaza now sees you, and Gaza is seeing what you are doing for Gaza,” Azaiza, who recently spoke at an event hosted by the Journalism School, said. “This is the first place that makes me feel that my words, it’s on the ground, it’s action.”
