Let's talk about these Diode Dynamics JL Elite headlight assemblies for a sec.

First and most importantly: they are, without a doubt, the best off the shelf headlight solution for the JL Wrangler. The LED projector low beam is very respectable and solid, the high beam is what you'd expect from an LED projector (meh, good enough to be better than what you're used to). You get a nice pure white DRL halo - - or you can change it to an amber DRL if that suits your fancy. It's switchback so you get a much more respectable turn signal. Fit and finish is top notch. All what you'd expect from a top tier lighting manufacturer like Diode Dynamics.

Be aware: the Elite does not have the interior accent lighting scallops that the Elite Max has. Meaning it does not do a worthwhile welcome animation that the Max boasts. Equally important: the welcome sequence is triggered by the unlock feature of the vehicle so, if you have a Sport trim JL with manual locks, you will not get a welcome animation regardless of Max or Max Elite. Also aiming these is a total PITA that must be done off the vehicle as a 'guess and check' approach which is really upsetting. DD claims they are aimed from the factory and should require minor to no adjustment but I strongly disagreed with the original setup and spent a significant amount of effort to dial these in proper.

I conclusion, if you can afford and have access to a custom headlight builder worth their salt, a properly designed build can outperform these in almost every aspect except for price point... Grievances aside, these are worth every penny of the $800 price tag and I'm so grateful some company with merit finally provided a quality on-road legal lighting product to the Jeep community.
