When COVID hit Mexico City, many trans women surviving on sex work were left with no work and no home. Some found sanctuary at Casa Hogar Paola Buenrostro, the country’s first shelter built for, and run by, former trans sex workers. In this episode of Transnational, Vice News correspondent Alyza Enriquez traveled to Mexico City to meet the shelter’s founder, and learn about the killing that led her to start the home in one of the world’s deadliest places for trans people.
