The first hints of the next-generation 2025 Nissan Patrol have been released, just a year before it makes its appearance and starts showing up in stores around the world.

Australian dealers may not get the new Patrol until many years after the US and Middle East. This could happen again with the 'Y62', which came out many years after the new Patrol.

Nissan has stated that the new 4WD will be shown off and sold in some international markets during the Japanese fiscal year 2024, which runs from April 2024 to March 2025.

It was already known that the new Patrol would get a smaller twin-turbocharged V6 engine instead of the bigger 5.6-liter V8. This would give it more power (336kW in the newly revealed Infiniti QX80 luxury twin) and better gas mileage.

In a Nissan future-model preview on Monday afternoon, a short look at the new Patrol was shown. It had tall LED headlights and taillights with a full-width rear light bar.

Just like the current models, the new Patrol (or Armada in the US) will likely share its body shell, frame, and engine with the new Infiniti QX80. The new model looks more boxy and modern than the old one.

According to spy photos, the Patrol will not have the same flush-fitting, pop-out door handles as the QX80. Instead, it will have standard pull-type door handles and different front wheel arches with vertical vents.

It's likely that right-hand-drive markets will get a more modern dashboard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which has been offered in left-hand-drive markets for a while now.

No talk of hybrid or plug-in hybrid power for the new Patrol, and Nissan officials have said in the past that an electric version won't be possible until 2028, when next-generation solid-state battery technology is ready.

The 'Y63' Nissan Patrol will use a version of the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged gasoline V6 engine that is in the QX80. However, it may not be set as high as the Infiniti's 336kW/698Nm outputs, which are higher than the 298kW/560Nm 5.6-liter V8.

Before it is shown off at the end of March 2025, more information about the 2025 Nissan Patrol will be made public.
