Almost five years ago on October 1st, 2017 I bought my first car at the age of 15 with the money earned working as a middle school janitor. That car was of course my 2002 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. The two things I wanted in my first car were AWD and a manual transmission. You punch those criteria into Craigslist's search filters and you get a bunch of old and rusty Subarus. After some time passed, I remembered the Mighty Car Mods/Roadkill special I watched Christmas Morning about a year before where they took a bugeye wagon and made it a custom ute. I never put it together that I had bought the same chassis they used until this point, and I knew what I had to do. So there I was: a year after spending $2700 on a decent first car I was cutting into the side of it with an angle grinder. In the end, it worked out and I ended up with something that turns heads and starts conversations everywhere it goes. To this day, I still thrash it and have a riot in the car while ripping it on gravel and bombing it through unplowed parking lots. Looking back, it was the perfect first car for me. It was fun, practical, great in the winter, and easy to work on. The car has always been a in that good medium where I care about it but not too much where I am not afraid to beat on it and get rowdy. I learned so much about working on cars and fabrication with this car that I think that many miss out on, and even though it is very far from flawless, it's perfect to me. The knowledge we gain, the memories we hold, the laughs we had, the people we met, the places we went, all make it perfect. For that reason, no matter what happens to this car it will always hold a place in my heart.

This video is a tribute to my car, but I also like to see it as sort of a thank you card to all the people that helped me work on this car whether it be fabrication, mechanical, electronic, etc. Without all of your guy's help, this car would honestly not be here today. I appreciate you all.
