To many, Lydia Carter will always be THE 'Wonder Woman'. For three seasons she wore the tights, flew the invisible plane, and fought evil from WWII to 1970s America. The show underwent changes: season one was set in the 40s, and scene changes were decked out with cartoon-style captions. The second season jump from ABC to CBS also advanced the time to the 70s, with Steve Trevor now Steve Trevor Jr, and the title expanded to 'The New Adventures of Wonder Woman'. The show got a third season as Steve was marginalized (doing most of his 'work' at a desk) and they tried for more youth appeal. An attempt was made to reboot the concept again in the last produced episode, but that didn't work (does it ever?) and the show came to its end. The theme, on many lists of top TV themes, is by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, and it too changed over the seasons. Here's a rundown of the video:
• Season one 'Wonder Woman' cartoon-styled opening and end titles. The original, and best, presentation of the theme.
• Season two open: The updated lyrics are not an improvement.
• Season two revised open: Instead of cartoons we get action clips, complete with unnecessary sound effects and a synthesizer.
• Season three open and end titles: It's Disco Wonder Woman, with a cute little robot and more sound effects.
Enjoy this trip from the 40s to the 70s with Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman.
