Are you searching for an interesting story that could state some interesting and important facts about the viking longships for your kids? Animation would be the answer and the storytelling is also a huge part of the story which is the way LearningMole has done it through this video.

The viking ships were given two different names, they were either the "longships" or the "dragonships", and the vikings also had slower passenger and cargo ships which were known as "Knorrs". The vikings also were good at making the small ships which they used in fishing or for the short trips they used to go on.

There are 10 facts which are brought through this video for the kids to know more about the viking longships and their uses. These facts state that:
1- Viking's longships were the largest and the fastest and they were used for raiding and combat.
2- These longships were between 25 and 30 meters and they carried up to 60 men.
3- Some of the other ships used by the vikings were called "knorrs" or "karves" which were slower passenger and cargo ships.
4- Longships were made from trees of timber which are usually oak and they had their techniques as well.
5- The men slept in fur-lined sleeping bags when the rolling sailors sat on chests with their belongings in.
6- The sailor men used to put helmsmen to move the ship faster and reach their destination quicker.
7- The vikings loved to decorate their ships with fine wooden carvings that were fearsome like a snake or a dragon to scare enemies off.
8- The vikings used to depend on stars in finding their ways in order to move in the right direction.
9- Vikings also used to give their ships some names like "Long Serpent", "Wind Crow" or "Snake of the Sea".
