HOW TO AMEND A CLAIM

EEOC:
-Reach out to the EEOC investigator assigned to your case.
-Provide a clear and concise explanation of the changes you wish to make or the additional information you want to include.

Submit a Written Request:
-Prepare a written request to amend your EEOC claim.
-Clearly state the reasons for the amendment
-Provide a detailed explanation of the new information or issues you want to add.

Include Supporting Documentation:
If you have evidence to support the amendments, include them with your written request. Supporting documentation can strengthen your case, and provide EEOC with a better understanding of your claims.

Be Timely:
-The usual reporting deadlines may apply.
-Submit your request for amendment in a timely manner.

Consult an Employment Attorney:
Consult with your attorney before submitting the request, or at least AN attorney. They know the best way to amend a claim and ensure the changes align with sound legal strategy.

Update the EEOC Charge Form:
-If your amendments involve changes to the initial charge form, ask the EEOC investigator for guidance on updating the form.
-Provide accurate and up-to-date information to reflect the modifications.

Follow EEOC Procedures:
-Adhere to the procedures outlined by the EEOC for amending claims.

Stay in Communication:
-Maintain open communication with the EEOC investigator to ensure your amendments are properly considered and integrated into the ongoing complaint.

Remember: Amending your EEOC claims should be done carefully, and with a clear understanding of the impact it may have on your case.
If you're uncertain about the process or the best way to proceed, consult an employment attorney.
