Update 2023: Hilariously, the rather mundane urbanism topic of 15 minute cities has become a conspiracy theory for the usual people who subscribe to wacko conspiracy theories. They must have been bored lately. Their tribal gurus like the likes of Trump and Bolsonaro have been muffled on social media so not a lot of noise there. QAnon hasn't offered up anything new lately. Brexit hype has faded and the UK is just slowly descending into the void so few talking points to be had. So out of obscurity came the 15 minute city as some sort of filler in the gaps between the usual topics. Have a look at the comments that have shown up on this video. Get some popcorn. It's hilarious.

Mikael looks at the hot new urbanism topic "15 minute cities" and explores his own neighbourhood in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen in order to look for patterns that will make the concept transferable to other urban contexts.

Although he points out that every neighborhood in every city in the world for 6000 years was a 15-minute city... it's how we made cities. It was the no-brainer standard. The baseline. The blueprint. Until the car was invented and car-centric planning screwed everything up. And Big Auto teaming up with Big Oil in the 1940s and 1950s and creating suburbs - forcing people to move out there and become car-dependent. Modelling the American highway network on Hitler's autobahn network in the years after WW2 to enable their car-dependent future.
