What's it going to take to maintain and grow Canadian agriculture in the future? After all, that's ultimately the definition of that word "sustainable" that we hear so often these days.

Whether you consider yourself a full-fledged ag policy nerd or just dabble every now and then, we're excited to let you know that the Ag Policy Connection is returning here on RealAgriculture.

Together with the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute (CAPI), we're working on producing a series of in-depth panel discussions exploring the future of Canadian ag and how we're going to get there, looking at different sides of important issues facing our farming and food sector.

The list of topics we'll be diving into includes water and land management, the future of farm extension and knowledge transfer, the role of livestock, and what trade could look like in the future.

For example, without giving too much away, we're going to discuss the future of Canada's environmental policies and programs with a panel that includes Liberal MP and House of Commons ag committee chair Kody Blois, Conservative shadow minister of agriculture John Barlow, and NDP ag critic Alistair MacGregor.

While season one of the Ag Policy Connection last year focused on how policy decisions in the past shaped our world today, we're going to focus on the big issues on the horizon for season two. And as before, the goal is to connect dots between different perspectives to create a clearer picture of our world and the issues in farming, ranching, and food.
