During a free practice day, ahead of the 2019 Dix Mille Tours du Castellet racing weekend by Peter Auto, I had the great chance to see, record and put an action camera inside a real endurance legend: the Corvette C5.R.
This one in particular is chassis C5R-002 and it was built at the very end of 1998, ready to be unleashed in the 1999 season, during which it was powered by a 6.0 V8 engine. In 2000 the engine was changed with a Katech LS1 427 7.0 engine mated to a Hewland 5-speed racing manual transmission.
Watch it in action around Circuit Paul Ricard, driven by Olivier and Xavier Galant, for a few brief sessions. The first on board footage was recorded with an external mic placed inside the cockpit but very near to the right exhaust, while the second one is just the audio recorded by the GoPro placed on the roll-bar.
