This video presents the conceptual design of an integrated solution for sea level rise, flood control, space creation, clean water, mass transport and marine ecosystem along East Coast. A 10 km seawall will be built to protect Singapore’s shoreline along East Coast, provide additional water catchment area to reduce flooding in the city, form a new freshwater reservoir that is many times larger than the Marina Barrage, create land using floating platform for commercial centres, waterfront living and recreation, as well as restore marine ecosystem using mangroves and corals. By integrating a number of new technologies and usages, the project will be cost-effective and financially viable. It is hoped that this project will lead to a new design and set of new solutions that can be adopted in Singapore and many other coastal cities around the world to mitigate the impact of sea level rise.
