I took a long trip in my 2010 Toyota Prius and was soon stuck with the "check hybrid system" warning light. After trying to replace the 12v battery with no luck I realized that my gas gauge was faulty and that I only needed to refill the gas and reset the computer. The Prius is known for having faulty gas gauges, always fill your Prius up completely. It even says it in the owners manual, never just add a few gallons because the gas gauge can be inaccurate.
