Good posture improves our health and mood - but how are we trying to get there? Through interactive demonstrations and experiments, Alexander Technique teacher and dancer Ariel Weiss debunks three commonly held myths about posture. By redirecting how we think about posture, she helps us to cooperate with the truth of our anatomical structure so we can feel more comfortable and function more effectively in our own skin. Ariel Weiss is a certified Alexander Technique teacher and dancer and has nurtured a lively private practice in Philadelphia since 1988. Trained as a dancer and choreographer, she delights in helping people learn to move freely in service of their structure so they can feel and function at their full potential. In addition to her private practice, Ariel coaches musicians at The Curtis Institute of Music and trains teachers at the Philadelphia School for the Alexander Technique. An inveterate mover, she enjoys moving to music whenever possible and traveling regionally and internationally to share her work with musicians, seniors, actors, dancers, teacher trainees and more. You can learn more about her work at www.atphila.com. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
