The ALL-NEW 2025 Honda Oddyssey! Total GAME CHANGER!

We’ve got a first look at the new 2025 Honda Odyssey and we can’t help but join the hype train. It looks very stylish and it already triggered so many discussions and gossip on various automotive forums that we had to stop and take a closer look at the facts. So, let’s get down to business, shall we?

Why expect a major redesign?
As you might well know, the minivan segment is somewhat limited in options. Key players include the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, and Chrysler Pacifica. Additionally, Kia has introduced the Carnival as a successor to the Sedona, while the Dodge Grand Caravan has been discontinued.

So a new Honda Odyssey would be a big thing on the minivan market. While the current Odyssey isn't lacking in quality, it's clear that new modern designs drive sales. This is reflected in the Odyssey's sales trajectory, with a decrease from 99,000 units sold in 2019 to less than 48,000 in 2022. Moreover, the Toyota Sienna, a direct competitor, saw a surge in sales to 107,000 after its 2021 redesign.

Another reason to expect the Odyssey's redesign is its shared platform with the Pilot, which was completely revamped in 2023. In line with this, Honda's other mid-size SUV, the Passport, is due for some updates in 2024. This trend suggests that the Odyssey might also make a splash with a new design soon.

Now if the future 2025 Honda Odyssey looks like this cool, futuristic design, it could be the best-looking minivan out there. Honda's been using the same old Lightning Bolt design for too long. It's time for something new, and this could be just the right change.

What everyone wants
If Honda were watching this, here’s what we’d like: “Please make the new Odyssey look a bit like an SUV. Take some ideas from the Kia Carnival. It would be great to have all-wheel drive, even just as an option. A 360 camera is a must for a minivan, and having some fun stuff for people in the back seat would be nice, too. And please give it a moonroof, that would be cool. Also, we think the Odyssey should really have a hybrid version. It's the only minivan without one. We need something that gets good gas mileage in the city, especially when driving with our family, pets, shopping bags and whatnot.
A bigger infotainment screen, like 12" or even 14", with fast response and sharp display would be awesome. Since Toyota's new Tacoma has a 14" screen, and other cars have big screens too, it would be great if Honda could do at least 12", or better yet, 14”. And finally, the Odyssey could use a more timeless and simpler look. The zig-zag design and the lobster tail lights could go. That would make the Odyssey just perfect!
That’s all, Honda! Can you make it happen?”

Just a facelift for now
While there's a buzz of excitement, it's best to temper expectations for now. Recent spy photos have emerged, suggesting that what we're seeing might be merely another update to the Odyssey, rather than a full-fledged redesign.

In the fast-paced world of SUVs, a vehicle like the Honda Odyssey might have already progressed to a next-generation model, shrouded in lots of camouflage from front to back. However, in the more conservative minivan sector, what we're actually witnessing is a second cosmetic refresh for the existing generation of the van. This update seems to focus primarily on the front end of the vehicle.
This sneak peek into Honda's updated minivan, expected to be officially unveiled later this year or perhaps in 2024, reveals that the vehicle is covered in heavy camouflage, particularly at the front.
The outline of the grille and headlights, visible through the fabric, indicate a familiar shape. At the corners, rectangular openings reveal stacked driving lights that seem to share the previous model's configuration, but with some variations in structure. Lower down, the front fascia is just visible, displaying some intriguing new notches.

So, we anticipate a redesigned lower fascia for the Odyssey, perhaps incorporating small notches similar to those found on the Honda Pilot. The grille might also see a revamp, potentially adopting a new structure while maintaining its current size and shape.
Such updates, though minor, could lend a fresh look to this beloved minivan. Additionally, changes are expected at the rear of the vehicle. The gate and taillights will likely remain the same, but we can see a new rear fascia with vertical reflectors hidden behind the black covers.
Regarding the interior, there's a possibility of updates, though it's not confirmed. The center touchscreen and the passenger side of the dashboard are covered, hinting at potential changes. These covers could be misleading, but a modest interior refresh to match the exterior modifications is certainly within the realm of possibility.
