The original song was composed by Saghar Saddiqee Sahab and the tune was recorded for the film Jabroo (1956) and the voice of Fazal Hussain by music director Ashiq Hussain Sahab, but it became popular when Noor Jehan sang the rhythm for a Punjabi film "Dillan Dey Sauday" (1968). Became an instant cult classic with various versions releasing to this day.
