Wonder Woman has seen many iterations over the decades, from TV to the movies. Starting with Cathy Lee Crosby and Lynda Carter in the 70s, Adrienne Palicki’s dropped pilot, and finally Gal Gadot’s success on the silver screen, we take a look at the ever-changing look of DC’s most famous heroine. What changes were made to each costume, and why? How did her powers change? What equipment did she have? Did she ever go without her Lasso of Truth? Why was Wonder Woman a super-spy at one point? How long has she had that golden, winged suit of armor?

It may be hard to imagine a time before Gal Gadot was the face of Wonder Woman but, to many Lynda Carter was what they grew up watching. Cathy Crosby and Adrienne Palicki’s versions of the Amazonian may not have taken off, but their versions still present an interesting look into the evolution of the character. While the original design’s template has almost always been present, each new actress brought their own look to the table (some changes more radical than others).

Wonder Woman is a heroine that has endured through decades of re-imaginings and wardrobe changes. Details have been changed here and there for reasons ranging from simply cosmetic to deeply symbolic. Everything from her body type to the shape of her tiara has gone through several stages of evolution. This video will lay out each change in detail, discussing how each new version built on each other to bring us to the present day.
