To test all these colors, we fire up the bulbs in HID projectors and shine them at the wall from 25 feet. We then measure lux using a digital lux meter to measure actual useable brightness inside the beam pattern's maximum hot spot.

3,000k color HID bulb: 350 max lux with 35w ballast.
3,000k color HID bulb: 490 max lux with 55w ballast.

4,300k color HID bulb: 1,070 max lux with 35w ballast.
4,300k color HID bulb: 1,510 max lux with 55w ballast.

5,000k color HID bulb: 1,140 max lux with 35w ballast.
5,000k color HID bulb: 1,430 max lux with 55w ballast.

6,000k color HID bulb: 986 max lux with 35w ballast.
6,000k color HID bulb: 1,350 max lux with 55w ballast.

8,000k color HID bulb: 970 max lux with 35w ballast.
8,000k color HID bulb: 1,340 max lux with 55w ballast.
