Back in October Rocket and I went on a quick day trip out to Virginia Peal with our friend Billy from the Explore Nevada Channel. Check him out on Instagram too: @explorenv.

Virginia Peak is a high point in the Pah Rah range north east of Reno bordering the city of Sparks and Spanish Springs to the west and the lower reaches of the Truckee River at Pyramid Lake to the east.

The route we took went up Piute Creek to just below the summit of Virginia Peak. There may be more adventurous routes, but this was a good one to start with to get the lay of the land. The easiest route is Microwave Road which is a good dirt road the whole way. There is a dirt road that seems to lead back down to the Pyramid side of the range and that will be a fun expedition next time we go out there.
