The BMW Z8 was made famous when the roadster was cut in half by a saw hanging from a helicopter in the James Bond movie, the World is Not Enough. Avoiding that happening again, join me for the 10 hour journey from London across the Eurotunnel to Le Mans for the annual 24H race to join the BMW team.

The BMW Z8 launched in 1999 as a tribute to the BMW 507 from the 1950s. With a long bonnet housing the 4.9l V8 from the E39 M5, a two-seat cabin with folding soft top, and a swept tail design, it is the ultimate roadster of its era and market prices reflect that as it has increased from the original £80,000 cost price to a value now of around £200,000.

Producing 410hp and 500Nm, with a 6 speed manual gearbox, we take an introductory tour in the garage before embarking on the drive of around 400 miles to the famous French town.

Often meeting your heroes in terms of cars can be a dangerous task as they may not live up to expectations, but let's experience the Z8 and find out what it's all about. Unlike 007 though, this one does get returned in one piece!

Thanks for watching, Tim
