Elon Musk is a man who lives in the future, and one of his most talked about inventions - the highly futuristic Neuralink - just came one step closer to being a reality. In August 2020, the Tesla CEO debuted the much-awaited and ambitious project that connects the human brain to the digital world via a brain implant that Musk refers to as like having a “Fitbit in your skull, with tiny wires.”

Neuralink will give humans an edge over machines
There has been speculation about whether or not the Neuralink could result in a Terminator-style scenario. However, realistically it isn’t likely. This is because the Neuralink implant will give humans an edge over machines. Moreover, with the rise of artificial intelligence, Musk has always been concerned with how humans will interact with highly intelligent machines.

Neuralink will improve the quality of life for neurologically handicapped people
The Neuralink will give humans greater control of their brains. It would impact the lives of people with brain and spinal cord injuries in a major way. Handicapped people could interact with their prosthetics, computers, and smartphones just by using the Neuralink implant in their brain.

What is Neuralink
Neuralink will involve a tiny 8mm micro-chipset called N1 implanted into the brain just behind the ear. It will be connected to 96 very fine and flexible threads, and the threads in turn will be connected to electrodes in the brain.
