I invited comedian, advocate, and most importantly my friend Pamela Rae Schuller over for a little game. I quizzed her on which diseases were real and which were fake, and if she could get it right then I’d donate $100 to the charity of her choice, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Here’s the catch: literally every disease I quizzed her on is fake, having all come from movies and TV shows. Pam was squirming back and forth trying to figure out if diseases from Pokemon, Contagion, Spongebob Squarepants, Batman, The Simpsons, and countless other programs were real. I followed it up with some real things in medicine that sound fake but aren’t.
