What it is like to be a king? It is to sacrifice, to lose men, to be betrayed, to be deceived, to be ambushed...

Our Outlaw King, Robert the Bruce, is ambushed at the Islay River crossing with his loyal men, including his brothers. After giving way to Robert and his company, the Macdougalls pursue them and hits them when they are at their weakest! Torn apart by a wide river, Robert loses a lot of men and one of his brothers.

The other was the ambush at the forest of Methven, this is the second time Robert was ambushed, but this time it must have hit even harder because it was from his own kin! This also depicts the power vacuum and struggle in medieval Scotland. You can declare yourself king, but for some, you are only an outlaw king! Although many-sided with Robert the Bruce, there were many clans that sided with Edward Longshanks and after him his son, Prince Edward.

You can watch the whole movie on Netflix. We strongly suggest you do so for this is a great movie with wonderful historical aspects and accuracy!
