Being a pro actor takes being a pro human. In other words, being a really professional actor means being ready to be with everything that makes you human: your own feelings of fear, terror, anger, sadness, jealousy, etc; so that you can show them in front of an audience or camera. Even if your feelings are uncomfortable, you need to explore and be able to feel all that yuckiness because the responsibility of an actor is to portray humanity and remind the audience what being human is like.

The job of an actor is to serve the character inside of their own whole humanity. And as long as you are your ego (because of your conditioning) you are not doing your job 100%.

However, most of us are not pro human because we have been raised to repress everything that we feel, think and the way we behave. Since childhood, we have been asked not to be angry, afraid or sad in front of people. Instead, we have been asked to sit down, be quiet and do as we are told, think as we are told and behave as we are told.

Therefore, you need to reclaim your capacity to be an ultimate pro at being “YOU” like only you can and that will be your contribution as an actor. Once you do that, directors, agents, casting directors and everyone, in general, will be able to SEE YOU. The audience will connect with you. Everyone will have the opportunity of at least wanting to work with you because you will be seen with all of your presence and life force for the character. Also, you will be fulfilled since you will bring your whole self, and not just part of it.
