💬 Qada (making up for the missed prayers): Is delaying Salah to offer it at a convenient time allowed in Islam?

♻️ Qada means to make up for any missed worship. Qada can only be offered for a prayer that has been delayed or missed due to a valid Sharee’ah excuse and has not been missed or delayed intentionally.

✈️ If a person is travelling and the prescribed time for any prayer starts, then he should offer his Salah, whether he is on ground or in air.
If he cannot get off from his ride, he should offer his Salah while he is still on his ride.

📚 "Amr bin Uthman bin Ya'la bin Murrah narrated from his father, from his grand-father that: They were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey. They wound up in a narrow area when Salat became due.
Then it began raining from the sky above them, and it was wet beneath them.
So Allah's Messenger ﷺ called the Adhan while he was on his mount, and then the Iqamah, going forward on his mount.
He let them in Salat by making gestures, making his prostrations lower than his bowing."
✨[At-Tirmidhi 411]

📖 فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰہَ مَا اسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ۞
"So be mindful of Allah to the best of your ability."
✨ [At-Taghabun 64:16]

🚊 Missing prayers while travelling:

🏜️ While travelling, a prayer might be delayed if a person is in need of performing wudu but cannot find water.
In such a situation, a person is allowed to do “Tayammum”, using clean earth, so that the person does not delay his Salah and can offer his prayer on time.

🌋 Missing or delaying prayers when there is no water or no clean earth:

🔸If a person is unable to find water to do wudu, or clean earth to do tayammum, then he is called “فاقد طہورین” (a person who is unable to find both things (water and clean earth) to purify him).

⏳In such a situation, according to evidence from hadith, Imam Bukari and many other Scholars believe that the person should not delay his prayers and offer his Salah on time, in the same condition.

💭 If a person is sick, can he delay or miss some prayers?

📚 The Prophet of Allah ﷺ Said: "Pray while standing and if you can't, pray while sitting and if you cannot do even that, then pray lying on your side."
✨[Sahih Bukhari: 1117]

🛌🏻 If a person is unable to offer his prayers even while lying down, then he should offer his prayers while making gestures. If the person has lost his consciousness, then there is no requirement. He would offer his salah once he regains his consciousness.

✅ This clearly indicates that prayers cannot be delayed or missed (intentionally) under any circumstances.

💬 What are the scenarios in which Qada (making up for missed prayers) can be offered for the missed prayers?

✌🏻 There are 2 scenarios:

“Whoever sleeps and misses the prayer or forgets it, let him pray it when he remembers.”
[Muslim 684)

Overslept unintentionally:
🗓️ If a person is regular in offering his prayers, has the intention to offer his Salah on time but accidentally falls asleep, or oversleeps and misses his prayer, then he should offer his prayers, after wudu, as soon as he wakes up. His prayer would be considered valid before Allah and would not be taken as Qada (making up for missed Salah).

📚 Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: On the day of Al-Khandaq (the battle of trench.) Umar bin Al-Khattab came cursing the disbelievers of Quraish after the sun had set and said, "O Allah's Messenger ﷺ could not offer the Asr prayer till the sun had set."
The Prophet ﷺ said: "By Allah! I, too, have not prayed."
So we turned towards Buthan (بُطْحَانَ), and the Prophet ﷺ performed ablution and we, too, performed ablution and offered the Asr prayer after the sun had set, and then he offered the Maghrib prayer. ✨(Sahih Bukhari: 596)
