Review of the Motorola Edge, a near-flagship 5G smartphone with a feature-packed camera, solid gaming chops and commendable battery life. At £550 UK it's more affordable than many flagships, yet should suit most users just fine. I've been using the Motorola Edge as my full-time mobile for a week now and here's my final verdict.

Like the Realme X50 Pro, this is a mostly solid phone offering respectable value for money. You don't get the super-premium performance of that device, but this Moto can still play the latest titles perfectly and serves up those new GameTime features like virtual triggers. Battery life is better here, although the camera tech once again struggles in more testing conditions. While that optical zoom isn't as accomplished as some rivals, like the X3 SuperZoom.

The Motorola Edge also serves up a stock version of Android 10 with plenty of great features thrown on top, although updates may be a little sporadic. On that front, the Nokia 8.3 5G may be a better option.

Check out my tips and tricks guide for a closer look at that software, and my reviews of other 2020 smartphones for alternative options.
