Restoration and restore of a 100 year old rusty cleaver knifer. The knife was very badly rusted. It had many dents and scratches. My goal with this restoration project was not to overwork the surface of the knife. It was not an easy restoration project.

First thing I did was remove the old handle. Since the cleaver was very badly rusted, it was completely sandblasted. There was still rust in the pores of the surface that could not be removed with sandblasting. That's why I treated the cleaver with electrolysis. The scabbard had a lot of dents and quirks. That's why I sanded the entire sheath. The surface was finished with a steel brush. This made the surface shiny again. All edges of the knife were ground with an arrow and sandpaper. All surfaces have been polished to a high gloss. Finally, the cutting edge was ground. The first part of the project was finished. I used oak board for the wooden handle. I cut the oak board into small slices. I always put a small aluminum plate between the individual discs. It was all glued together afterwards. The knife handle was then ground and adjusted. Finally there was the wedding. The knife handle and the knife were glued together. The result is unique. The knife is very sharp. It's a lot of fun to cut with it.
