The Honda Clarity 2021 is an ecological sedan sold in two variants: a hydrogen version (USA) or a plug-in hybrid electric version (PHEV). The former is only available in California, as it is the only state with substantial hydrogen infrastructure. Since the fuel cell is used to power an electric motor, the Clarity drives and feels like a battery-powered electric vehicle, and you can fill the hydrogen tank in minutes. The Honda Clarity PHEV on the other hand uses a small battery associated with a gasoline engine. As a result, the Clarity Plug-In Hybrid offers a pure electric range of 76 km (in very optimal conditions), but its back-up gasoline engine allows it to travel as far as any regular sedan. The incentive for non-plug-in hybrid vehicles and low-speed vehicles is abolished. Increased financial assistance for low-speed vehicles is however offered by the green program here in Québec, which is more generous since spring 2020: $ 13,000 in rebates for the Clarity!
