Two days prior to her husband Alexei Navalny’s funeral, Yulia Navalnaya spoke in front of European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, offering scathing words about and suggestions for “defeating” Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“If you really want to defeat Putin, you have to become an innovator. You have to stop being boring,” Yulia told EU lawmakers.

Navalny, Russia’s official opposition leader died suddenly in an Arctic penal colony on Feb. 16. He was serving a three-decade sentence that his allies have labelled as politically motivated.

Allies have accused Putin of having Navalny murdered because Putin could allegedly not tolerate the thought of him being freed in a potential prisoner exchange.

“You cannot hurt Putin with another resolution or another set of sanctions that is no different from the previous ones… You are not dealing with a politician, but with a bloody monster,” Navalnaya added in her speech.

Navalny’s funeral will take place in Moscow on March 1. “I'm not sure yet whether it will be peaceful or whether the police will arrest those who have come to say goodbye to my husband,” Navalnaya said.
