The female Cardinal seemed to know that the male was going to show up and startle her. She kept looking around as if thinking, "where is he, I know he is watching me". She was right, and the male did show up. He did not even eat anything or grab a peanut to go. He truly was just checking up on her. I suspect he is perched close by to ensure other males do not try to make a move on his mate. Clearly the male Cardinal is being a bit clingy these days. 🤣 Hopefully you enjoyed the video.
