The introduction of bus lanes over 30 years ago was a controversial step intended to promote Bus use and tackle congestion and air pollution. This never worked and in fact permanently increased congestion and emissions with no benefit to bus uptake. Now a similar phenomenon is taking place with Cycle lanes that are never used!
This could be significantly contributing to increased emissions unnecessarily contributing to Global warming. is it time we scrapped them and freed up the roads?
