The Tesla Cybertruck has starting making its way to excited customer hands over the past several weeks. These non-employee deliveries are the first time outside customers are getting a chance to learn about this next generation vehicle, including some of the nuances.

Despite a week filled with FUD on Cybertrucks rusting, I was able to show what is actually happening and even removed the oxidation for all to see just how easy it is. But after removing the rail dust (rust dust) from the Cybertrucks stainless body, your next thought might be on ceramic coatings, and you wouldn't be alone.

The thing I learned about Stainless Steel is that ceramic coatings do not properly adhere to the surface. That means it wont stick and it wont perform the way a ceramic coating is intended to, leaving you with far fewer options to maintain and protect the patina of the Cybertruck.

Well here is the good news, Everbrite, a small private owned company, has been producing coatings for metal finishes for many years. In fact they have been providing a coating that was specifically formulated for Stainless Steel and have a history of performance. After getting a solvent safe receptacle to pour the sealer in and the denatured alcohol from you local hardware store, you are ready to get to work. This kit is easy to apply and takes about a couple hours from start to finish. After 4-5 days, the coating will be cured and can be handled more aggressively at that time.

There are many benefits of this coating from Everbrite, including the fact that you can apply a Vinyl wrap or PPF right on top of the coating, unlike traditional ceramic coatings. This coating will protect the Stainless Steel surface from oxidation, contaminants, scratches, fingerprints and so much more.
