This time, I walked around the shopping street in the Temiya district (Nishikimachi) of Otaru City, Hokkaido, Japan.
I have uploaded videos of Temiya Ginza Shopping Street and Nojima-dori Shopping Street in the past, but this time I visited for the first time in three years.
First, go through the Nishikimachi intersection in the direction of Jukkenzaka.
There is a long-established cake shop and soba restaurant on this street.
However, the tama-no-yu public bath that was in the previous video was completely gone.
Orthopedic hospitals are also closed.
Turn right at the Jukkenzaka intersection and you will arrive at Temiya Ginza Shopping Street.
There used to be a Tsubohachi here, but it is currently being renovated, and looks like it will be a different store.
It seems that the greengrocer next to Tsubohachi has closed.
The former Temiya Market is now used as a food factory, but the neighboring Shin Temiya Market appears to be in ruins.
A lot has changed.
Crossing Temiya Naka-dori is Noshima-dori shopping street.
There are no major changes here, and both bakeries and mochi shops are open.
Although the Fuji no Yu public bath has been out of business for a long time, the building still remains.
I was relieved that nothing had changed.
In the days when there was a station in Temiya and coal was loaded onto ships, it was quite a bustling town.
I would like to see some of the streetscapes from that time remain.
