A Closing Statement is where the jury is able to be reminded of the promises made by the attorney in the Opening Statement. Juries care very much about broken promises. If you promise the jury something you better follow through in trial. Broken promises are what many lawsuits are about. No matter how difficult, you must never lie to the jury and be frank and honest with them. Juries are not attorneys, they are better. They are peers and colleagues in finding the truth. They care more about the truth than the attorneys because they do not get a financial benefit after the decision. And they want to sleep at night knowing they made a difference. To all that have served as jurors -- big kudos to you for making America better.
