There's no tree that looks perfect throughout the year quite like the mastic tree. Evergreen, no mess, super hardy. It takes 120F degree full sun summers and 25F winters without any problem. The tree also a very long and interesting history and has been referred to throughout many Middle Eastern texts (including The Bible) - so it's a great conversation piece to have in your yard. Additionally, its sap has a variety of medicinal purposes, and can still be seen in many products used today.

Also, cuttings from the mastic tree are wonderful for use in decorating your home. This tree's cuttings last months after removing from the tree, and hold a nice look even after drying out.

I am in Zone 9b, and rarely see this tree in my area (near Phoenix AZ). I'd love to see more of these trees, and highly encourage you to plant one!
